Chapter Nine — The Doctrine of the Evolved

The broken thread leads to a city that already knows the Doctor’s name.

Its message is everywhere:

STILLNESS IS WISDOM. ACCEPTANCE IS ALIGNMENT. THE ERROR WAS THE DOCTOR.

The people who remain have learned to survive temporal collapse through obedience. Movement is dangerous. Questions are discouraged. History has become something administered rather than remembered.

And the Unified Doctor has become the symbol of everything they have been taught to fear.

As he and Ava enter the city, they face an unsettling possibility: perhaps the Eaters are not the only threat to freedom.

Sometimes people surrender possibility willingly.

Especially when certainty promises to keep them safe.
